Alex Schaefer

Painter, internet radio host & accidental activist Alex Schaefer has had an interesting summer. As he explains to art critic Shana Nys Dambrot, his shockingly traditional urban plain air painting practice inspired a series of Chase banks aflame. Thanks to vigilant citizens alerting the Law, local press attracting the attention of Glenn Beck, and a record-setting $25K eBay sale to a European collector, his imagination and the roof aren’t the only things on fire; his career’s crackling, too. Through it all Schaefer remains an unapologetic fan of Old Master & Impressionist landscapes. See one burn at Alias Books Friday night. More at alexanderschaefer.blogspot.com.
